Sturgeon River Care & Maintenance
Our cedar furniture products should serve you well for many years with limited upkeep. Our products can be cared for by applying a penetrating oil finish with UV resistance approximately every season or every couple seasons depending on the severity of conditions, storage and amount of sun.
We recommend using a quality oil-based product such as Cabot’s, though there are many other good options to choose from. We suggest using the color shades of ‘clear’ or ‘natural’, although color names may vary by manufacturer. You may apply a penetrating oil with a slight red color (often referred to as redwood) but this typically results in a darker brown finish. Apply your oil using a rag and wipe the finish on. If the furniture can take more than one coat, apply a second coat until the wood no longer absorbs oil.
